The Bridge 2.7
The Bridge is our chance to share news about City of Bridges and things that we are thinking about. Some of those things are directly related to COB and some are just things that we find interesting!
There are two articles we want to share with you this week, both about serious topics that are relevant to City of Bridges. The first is an opinion piece from the Canadian Broadcast Corporation, Let’s Teach our Kids the Skills Needed to Fight Fascism. The second is an essay by Nicholas Tampio, Look Up From your Screens. For more articles related to our mission, follow our Twitter account, @CityofBridgesHS.
There are many organizations, schools, and people that inspire both our work and our vision for the world. One of those organizations is The Highlander Research and Education Center, (formerly the Highlander Folk School). The autobiography of the founder of Highlander, Myles Horton, is called The Long Haul. This book is one of Randy’s favorites. If you would like to learn more about Myles Horton and hear from him in his own words, there is an interview (from 1981) with him on YouTube, which you can see by clicking here.
One of our values at City of Bridges is Joy. As we live our lives we want to do good work to make the world a more just and equitable place and we also want to have fun. We have been having a lot of fun with Whale Synth. Make some music, have some fun.
Thank you and Be Well,
